PLC/DCS based System Architecture

INTRODUCTION

System Architecture is the diagram which gives details about control system components and their communication interfaces.

Components such as,
– Computers (DCS Servers, SCADA, Database servers, etc.,)
– Controllers ( DCS, PLC, PAC, VFD, etc.,)
– Human Machine Interfaces ( Machine control via Screens)
– Ethernet Switches
– Transmitters(Sensors), Multi-Function Meters(MFM), etc.,

Interfaces, this gives the details of communication medium, Protocols, and their network topologies.
mostly used Interfaces are,
– Ethernet Cables ( TCP/IP, Profinet, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, etc.,)
– RS 485/ RS 232 (Modbus)
– Wireless Radio, GSM/GPRS/Internet Gateways
